Hey! Have you met Hein?

You might very well have, but if you haven’t: let me introduce myself!

Me and my camera

Beginnings

After my dad bought a DSLR back in 2008 to bring along on family trips, I was fascinated by the thing. It had all these buttons and rings on the lens you could rotate! The ultimate toy for a curious lad like 6-year old me. And as a cherry on top: he showed me some stunning pictures he shot, sharper than anything I’d ever seen.

It didn’t take long for me to demand instructions on how to use that camera, after which I started playing with some basic settings like ISO and manual focus.

For my 12th birthday my folks got me a book on lighting and photography, while my dad explained everything he knew about composition. I brought the camera on walks through the woods behind our house.

My younger brother when he was 13. He is now 18…

Mother mid-speech, unsuspecting but looking into the camera.

A self-portrait, two months after my 16th birthday. Just me, a tripod and very poor lighting which demanded a bunch of editing… But high-contrast images were fashion back then! 🙂

Wait, where is Hein?

I found him! He was busy applying to a session…

So here we are. You have made it through the portfolio! Now for the inevitable, a personal introduction.

I’ll skip over all the curriculum vitae-stuff, as it doesn’t have much to do with who I am, but more of what I’ve been doing.
