Beginnings

After my dad bought a DSLR back in 2008 to bring along on family trips, I was fascinated by the thing. It had all these buttons and rings on the lens you could rotate! The ultimate toy for a curious lad like 6-year old me. And as a cherry on top: he showed me some stunning pictures he shot, sharper than anything I’d ever seen.

It didn’t take long for me to demand instructions on how to use that camera, after which I started playing with some basic settings like ISO and manual focus.

For my 12th birthday my folks got me a book on lighting and photography, while my dad explained everything he knew about composition. I brought the camera on walks through the woods behind our house.

I started playing around with more advanced concepts like composition, aperture, perspective, subject distance and the different focal lengths between the two lenses we had.

Soon I discovered that even the most mundane objects can make for stunning pictures, so here are a few for you to enjoy!

I’ll skip over all the curriculum vitae-stuff, as it doesn’t have much to do with who I am, but more of what I’ve been doing.
